Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan dies aged 76
20th March 2025Eddie Jordan, former Formula 1 team owner and F1 pundit, has passed away at the age of 76 years old following his battle with cancer.

Jordan was an iconic member of the F1 community, his recognisable Irish voice, and once owned his own F1 team, Jordan Grand Prix from 1991 to 2005.
It was revealed that Jordan had been battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months. The Jordan family confirmed, in a statement, that Jordan had passed away in the early hours of March 20, 2025.
In a statement, Jordan’s family said:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.
“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.”
We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan.
With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times.
Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed.

Famously, Jordan was the first person to give Michael Schumacher his F1 debut at the Jordan team, in their debut season in 1991. Other well-known names also competed for the team like Ruben’s Barrichello, Damon Hill, Martin Brundle and Jean Alesi.
The famous Jordan team went on to secure four wins with Damon Hill at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix – the team’s only 1-2 finish – and two more in 1999, in France and Italy, before their final win came at the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix.
More recently, Jordan reportedly helped Adrien Newey facilitate his early release from Red Bull which allowed the iconic F1 designer to Aston Martin.
In a statement by Formula 1, the sport’s President and CEO, Stefano Domenical said:
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan. With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times.
“Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.”
