The sun had fallen beneath the crest of the horizon on the penultimate day of the three-day test at the Bahrain International Circuit at the Middle-Eastern country of Bahrain.

Hamilton had previously set the fastest lap of the session; having completed this during the morning session, Sainz has taken over as the fastest driver of the day in the afternoon session.

The rain had continued to fall, as it had in the morning, but the teams and drivers were not forced to resort to wet-weather tyres in the afternoon as the circuit began to dampen.

It meant the teams and drivers could continue through their testing programme without further issues.
