Wednesday marked the opening day of F1’s pre-season test. The morning had been completed, with Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli fastest in the first four hours.
Now, the drivers swapped over with the other 10 drivers and got their opportunity to drive their 2025 machinery as the sun began to set and slowly turned into night.
As mileage continued to be increased, only Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar had a moment into turn four as the Frenchman spun. Thankfully, he was able to keep it on track and continue on his way.
Here are the afternoon runners
- McLaren – Lando Norris
- Ferrari – Charles Leclerc
- Red Bull – Max Verstappen
- Mercedes – George Russell
- Aston Martin – Lance Stroll
- Alpine – Pierre Gasly
- Haas – Esteban Ocon
- Racing Bulls – Isack Hadjar
- Williams – Carlos Sainz
- Sauber – Gabriel Bortoleto
Leclerc topped the timing boards ahead of Russell and Norris, and Gasly was the fourth fastest. Verstappen was next, in sixth, in between Antonelli and teammate Liam Lawson.
Sainz was the next afternoon driver down the list, in 10th, ahead of the remaining four drivers. Stroll, Hadjar, Ocon and Bortoleto completed the afternoon runners in 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
