After another seven stages on Saturday, the teams and crews completed a staggering 101.96km with three stages left to complete on Sunday. But there was drama on the penultimate day of the weekend.
Hyundai’s Ott Tanak lost his podium position to teammate Neuville as the Estonian was hindered by a leak on his i20 N Rally1. Evans lost time on the final stage of the day as he stalled his Rally1 Yaris in a tight left-hander.
The big moment was Hyundai’s Adrien Fourmaux who had to retire from the event on Saturday after burying his i20 into a snowbank.
He had to readjust his helmet in the morning loop, and his frustration was clear to see at the stage end having not said a single word. However, his day got worse as he beached his Hyundai in a snowbank on SS14.

How Saturday ended…
Evans remained the rally leader but Takamoto Katsuta remained on his teammate’s heels, just three seconds behind. However, it was still all to play for on Sunday as Neuville finished only 6.3 seconds off the rally lead with 68km left to complete on Sunday.
Tanak dropped to fourth whilst Toyota’s Kalle Rovanpera moved up to sixth having found more pace in Sweden than he did on Friday. The two-time world champion took the opening stage win of the day.
M-Sport Ford occupied the remainder of the top 10 with Martin Sesks fastest of the Puma Rally1 cars ahead of Joshua McErlean and Gregoire Munster in sixth, eighth and ninth respectively.
Toyota’s Sami Pajari sandwiched himself in between the Ford runners, in seventh. Jourdan Serderidis completed the WRC Rally1 runners down in 36th, 21 minutes and 11.7 seconds off the pace.
This left WRC2’s Oliver Solberg to complete the top 10, in 10th, at his home event. The Swede was leading comfortably out in front of the WRC2 category as his closest rival, in another Toyota Yaris Rally2 car, was Finnish driver Roope Korhonen who was 39 seconds behind Solberg.
Three stages line up the final day with two lengthy tests, at 29.35km, which will be run back-to-back (Vastervik) before the event concludes with the 8km Wolf Power Stage.
