Leclerc brothers set to partake in Abu Dhabi GP FP1 together
4th December 2024The two Leclercs of Arthur and Charles are set to compete in the opening hour of practice together, with Ferrari, at the 2024 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Arthur Leclerc has been announced by Ferrari to be competing in FP1 at this weekend’s Abu Dhabi F1 season finale with the younger Monegasque replacing Carlos Sainz for the weekend.
This fulfils Ferrari’s mandated two rookies as per the regulation which states that all teams must run at least two rookies – who have had no more than two race starts – for Free Practice 1, and all drivers need to sit out at least one session per season.
Haas-inbound Oliver Bearman was reportedly set to sit in for Ferrari in this weekend’s finale, earlier this year.
However, with three Grand Prix starts – once for Ferrari in Saudi Arabia and two times for Haas in Azerbaijan and Brazil – it meant the team had to opt for someone else to fulfil the regulations.

He will get behind the wheel of the SF-24 this weekend alongside his brother, Charles Leclerc, who has taken eight Formula 1 race victories including his home race this season.
It will surely be a special moment for the pair as they become the sports first brothers to ever participate in an official F1 session with the same team.
The final race weekend will get underway at the Yas Marina Circuit on Friday, December 6 at 1:30pm local time. The usual Ferrari driver line-up of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will then return for FP2 a few hours later at 5pm (local).
