Williams confirmed on Friday that Sainz will have an opportunity to start building his relationship with the team as he will compete in the end-of-season test.
During this test, which will take place after the Abu Dhabi GP, the Spaniard will drive the team FW46 for the first time, integrating into his new team ahead of the new season.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Sainz would join the British team for the next season and will partner with Alexander Albon. This followed the Spaniard’s search for a seat in 2025 after it was announced that Lewis Hamilton would take his seat at Ferrari.
Williams has described the Albon-Sainz pairing as one of the season’s ‘formidable’ driver line-ups for the 75th anniversary of F1, with both drivers strapped in on multi-year deals.

Sainz has enjoyed an impressive career driving for; Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren and now Scuderia Ferrari.
In his time at the famous Italian outfit, the Spaniard secured his maiden victories at the 2022 British Grand Prix, followed up with three wins in Singapore 2023, Australia 2024 and his most recent in Mexico, 2024.
On the other hand, Albon has enjoyed a return to F1 racing, in 2022, after his spell at Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing which spanned from 2019 to 2020. The London-born Thai driver has consistently scored points for Williams and outscored all of his teammates to date.
Ahead of the test, the team have stated they’re looking ‘forward to teaming up’ with the Spaniard in the United Arab Emirates next month.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
