Eight-time World Rally Champion, Sebastien Ogier has provided fans with an update following his road traffic collision.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais were involved in a road traffic collision during reconnaissance of the Rally Poland stages.

Ogier, Landais and the two occupants of the other vehicle were all sent to hospital for scans which showed ‘no serious injuries’ for either party. Landais was later discharged from the hospital while Ogier had to stay overnight for medical observations.

However, Ogier has now been released from the hospital and the French driver has given fans an update on his condition. On X, he said:

“As you may know, Vincent and I had a road traffic collision yesterday during recce at Rally Poland. I had to spend the night in hospital, but I’m already feeling much better.

“I’m glad that medical checks showed no serious injuries as well for Vincent and the occupants of the other car. We’re not able to take part in this rally, which is a shame, but the most important is that everyone involved is safe.”

Following the news, Toyota shortly announced that reigning world champions Kalle Rovanpera and Jonne Halttunen will be competing in place of Ogier and Landais.

According to the WRC, the event stewards had approved the team’s request to ‘draft’ in Rovanpera for the event. They have also granted the team permission to change the car over from Ogier to Rovanpera for the event.

“Thank you everyone for all the messages I have received,” Ogier continued. “I’m now on my way back home to take some rest and make sure to be back in full strength soon. Good luck to @KalleRovanpera, @JonneHalttunen  and the whole @TGR_WRC team, I’ll be cheering for you!”
