Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has sealed his third home pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix ahead of Mclaren’s Oscar Piastri and, Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz.

Leclerc has taken his third home pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix, on Saturday, helping Ferrari secure their 250th career pole position in the sport.

Across the weekend, Leclerc looked to be a force to be reckoned with as he topped the timing boards in both Free Practice 2 and Free Practice 3 whereas Red Bull struggled with their car.

However, it looked as if the pole position may not be on as Mercedes’ George Russell and McLaren’s Lando Norris topped Q1 and Q2 respectively.

Despite this, Leclerc went on to secure the fastest lap time on the board ahead of the usual mid-session lull. When the cars came back out on track, Leclerc went on to beat his previous best time to secure the pole position.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who was looking to secure a record-breaking ninth consecutive pole position, struggled all weekend with his car. On the final push, the triple world champion hit the barrier and bailed out of his final lap.

The Dutchman will start the race in sixth, in between the two Mercedes of Russell (P5) and Lewis Hamilton (P7).

Leclerc will be hoping it his third Monaco pole will be ‘third time is the charm’ as the Monegasque has never secured victory on home soil, in any category he has raced in.
