Monaco GP – Weather: Thunder, Rain and Sun

It looks like it’s going to be a mixed bag for the Monegasque weather ahead of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, this weekend.

Monaco. It’s one of the most challenging tracks on the circuit, a track where an inch more than targeted from the barrier is lost time in the all-important qualifying session. 

However, adding rain into the mix increases the jeopardy for the drivers and teams where pin-point precision is crucial.

While thunderstorms are to be predicted on Thursday, according to the Met Office, rain will remain in the air over Friday and Saturday with the race looking to be a dry one. 

Friday

On Friday, which will consist of the usual Free Practice 1 and Free Practice 2 sessions as the drivers dial in their Monaco set-ups, it’ll be a day of two halves.

The morning will be sunny and dry. However, when the day goes into the afternoon, from 1pm, there will be a chance of rain for the remainder of the day, with a 30% chance of precipitation. 

Since Free Practice starts at 1:30pm local time, it could mean the opening practice sessions of the weekend could be wet ones – depending on the weather. 

Saturday

For Saturday, which contains the final practice session and all-important qualifying, it looks as if it could be a mix of dry and wet sessions. 

FP3 will start at 1:30pm and rain is predicted to hit from 2pm to 5pm. Meaning, the final practice is at risk of being a dry-to-wet session with qualifying at forecasted as a potential a wet one.  

Sunday

Unlike the previous two days, the race day for the Monaco Grand Prix looks to be completely dry. 

The Principality of Monaco is set to bask in the sun, from 8am to 8pm, with some clouds showing up around race time. With temperature highs reaching 23 degrees.
