Verstappen snatches sixth consecutive pole of 2024 in Miami GP
4th May 2024Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has secured his sixth consecutive pole position in 2024, at the Miami Grand Prix, as he put together a strong lap to beat the two Ferraris.
It’s round six of the 2024 championship, at Miami, USA, and Verstappen has secured his sixth pole position of the season as he beat the two Ferrari’s by a tenth.
Unlike yesterday’s sprint qualifying session, Verstappen focused on finding the right balance heading into the main event qualifying session. As such the Dutchman secured his 38th career pole by a tenth-and-a-half over his closest rival, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Compared between the sprint quali and main event quali, Verstappen confirmed the team ‘definitely improved the car a bit.’
“Yeah I think we definitely improved the car a bit,” confirmed Verstappen after qualifying. “I don’t know what it is, every single year we come here, I find it extremely difficult to be very consistent with the car feeling, the tyre feeling over one lap.
“It’s just super hard to make sure that sector one feels good and sector three, at the end of the lap. To make that happen together is incredibly tough.
“Again today, it was about finding that balance – I think we did okay.”
Like the Sprint Race, earlier today, Verstappen will be joined alongside Leclerc on the front row as the Monegasque secured P2.
Leclerc’s teammate, Carlos Sainz will start on the second row with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez for company.
