Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen secured victory at Suzuka as he led the team’s one-two finish at the Japanese Grand Prix, ahead of Sergio Perez.

Verstappen has claimed his third victory of the season, following his DNF in Australia last time out, as he led Perez to the team’s 31st one-two finish.

Despite losing out on the lead a couple of times throughout the race, due to scheduled pit stops, it never looked like anything else other than victory was on the cards for Verstappen.

He took the lead from the starting grid with ease as he got a better launch compared to Perez, who started alongside him in P2.

However, the Dutchman had to repeat proceedings after both of his former teammates, RB’s Daniel Ricciardo and Williams’ Alexander Albon, crashed out at turn three, causing a red flag stop.

Verstappen, again took the lead without much of a challenge from Perez who simply slotted in behind him. From there, Verstappen was in complete control of the race and had to make a handful of overtakes to regain the lead.

In addition to the fastest lap point, it means Verstappen leaves Suzuka with the maximum points haul of 26 points.

Perez finished the race in second place, 13 seconds behind Verstappen, and now occupies second in the driver’s standings a mere 13 points behind the defending world champion.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who remains jobless for 2025, rounded out the podium in third place to maintain his 100% record for podium finishes in all the races he has started, this year.

In terms of the constructor’s championship, with the maximum points scored, Red Bull has extended their lead with 141 points. Ferrari remains second, 21 points behind (on 120 points) while McLaren completes the top three.

That’s all for the article; Max Verstappen heads Red Bull 1-2 finish at Japanese Grand Prix!
