Brands Hatch set to stage British GT Finale in 2024

The iconic Kent circuit, Brands Hatch is set to host the British GT Championship finale, swapping with Donington park, after a change to the provisional 2024 calendar.

The Brands Hatch circuit is expected to host the season finale of the British GT 2024 season after it was deemed impossible to put the Donington Decider into its traditional final place slot.

Following the change, it means Donington Park will swap into an early September date which was originally the Kent-based circuit’s round, in the provisional calendar. As such, Brands Hatch will see out the 2024 championship three weeks later, after the Donnington race.

Earlier this month, the championships promoter, SRO Motorsports Group released the British GT 2024 season calendar. However, it did not have a firm venue in place for its title decider.

Donington was expected to take the finale, as per usual fashion, however issues within SRO’s international and UK schedules made the decision ‘impossible.’

2024 will mark the first season since 2011 where a ‘Donington Decider’ has not taken place, not including the 2020 COVID-impacted season. At the same time, Brands Hatch last hosted the season finale two year prior to that.

Despite not hosting the 2024 season finale next year, Donington will still host two rounds on the 2024 calendar, on September 7 and September 8. The circuit will also host the pre-season media day on March 12, prior to the season opener in Oulton Park, on March 30 to April 1.

After the recent changes, the remainder of the calendar remains unchanged:

  • Oulton Park (2 x 1 Hour), March 30 – April 1
  • Silverstone GP (1 x 3-hour), April 27-28
  • Donington Park (1 x 3-Hour), May 26-26
  • SRO Speedweek, Spa-Francorchamps (1 x 2-Hour), June 22-23
  • Snetterton (2 x 1-Hour), July 13-14
  • Donington Park (1 x 2-Hour), September 7-8
  • Brands Hatch (1 x 2-Hour), September 28-29
