Karun Chandhok suggests a new grid idea after Brundle/Delevingne snub

Formula 1 pundit, Karun Chandhok has suggested the sport to ‘take the grid passes’ away from certain people after Martin Brundle was snubbed by Cara Delevingne on the grid.

Chandhok, 39, along with some of the fanbase was frustrated by Delevingne’s refusal to be interviewed by, F1 colleague, Brundle ahead of the British Grand Prix.

The former driver has suggested that F1 and the FIA should consider taking away the grid passes from those who ‘don’t care’ about the sport.

The Indian driver who had a short stint in F1, between 2010 and 2011, posted a tweet on Twitter highlighting his frustration. In the tweet, he said:

“I honestly think we should have a ‘chart of rudeness’ in F1!

“Next time, take the grid passes from people who don’t care and give it to some deserving kids who will treasure the experience…”

Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Brundle was in the middle of the pre-event action down on the grid doing his Grid Walk segment.

After successful interviews with Actress Florence Pugh and Singer/Songwriter Liam Payne, Brundle approached Delevingne for a ‘quick chat.’

The co-commentator was quickly advised that the model did not want to talk which Brundle quipped: ‘That’s the deal now, everybody talks on the grid.’

Undeterred by the initial refusal from the ‘F1 Representative,’ according to Delevingne, Brundle still tried to get a small conversation going with the model.

However, once Brundle had introduced himself he was met with Delevingnes’ very own refusal. The model instantly turned down the interview by saying: ‘No. No. I can’t hear anything sorry.’

Understanding Brundle was not going to get a chat with her, the former racer said:

“Okay, alright, well, I’m sure it would’ve been extremely interesting.”

This suggestion has also been approved by fans who prefer the idea of someone like them getting the chance to hover around the F1 machinery, the teams and the drivers.

Despite the popularity and controversy of the moment, it has not been the first high-profile snub for the 64-year-old.

One of the most recent, and popular moments, was back in 2021 at the United States Grand Prix in Austin when Brundle was snubbed by Megan Thee Stallion’s entourage – providing the famous ‘I can because I did’ quote.

The incident also prompted the sport to take action which has been dubbed the ‘Brundle Clause,’ which forces celebrities to get rid of their security entourages ahead of events.

Brundle was also snubbed at the US GP last year, by Brad Pitt, who refused to speak to the former racer.

That’s all for the article; Karun Chandhok suggests a new grid idea after Brundle/Delevingne snub!
