Sebastian Vettel to retire from F1 at end of 2022 season
28th July 2022Aston Martin driver and four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel has announced he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the season.
Aston Martin released a video earlier today regarding their four-time world champion driver, Sebastian Vettel as he conducted a piece to camera, announcing his retirement.
in the video, he said:
“I hereby announce my retirement from Formula One by the end of the 2022 season. Probably, I should start with a long list of people to thank now but I feel it is more important to explain the reasons behind my decision.
“I love this sport.
“It has been central to my life since I can remember. But as much as there is life on track, there is my life off track too.
“being a racing driver has never been my sole identity. I very much believe in identity by who we are and how we treat others rather than what we do.”

The four time world champion made his initial F1 debut back in 2007, substituting for Robert Kubica – at BMW Sauber – when he had his horrific crash during the Canadian Grand Prix.
Vettel was soon given a contract at Toro Rosso, now named Alpha Tauri, that season.
A year after his signing, the German driver went on to secure an impressive victory at Monza, in wet conditions, for the Italian Grand Prix and became the youngest F1 driver to win – at the time.
After he impressed the higher ups at Red Bull, he lined up next to Mark Webber for the 2009 season. Vettel didn’t have to wait long for his first world title, as he secured that a season later and went on to secure three more.
Despite only securing his fourth – and final – title in 2014, Vettel remains the third, most successful racing driver in F1 with 53 wins to his name, behind the likes of Sir Lewis Hamilton (first) and Michael Schumacher (second).
