Verstappen took victory at Marina Bay Street Circuit to take his second consecutive victory of the season, and his first at the Singapore track, in a lights-to-flag performance.

The Dutchman took victory ahead Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli.

Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto brought out the Virtual Safety Car as the Brazilian reported he had ‘lost’ the gearbox at the end of the pit straight, pulling onto the pit exit road. The Audi was quickly pushed back into the pit lane before it caught fire. This was later followed by Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, who also retired on track, prompting the VSC.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton made a gamble on tyre strategy, which did not work out well, and the seven-time world champion dropped out of podium contention, allowing Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli to take his place.
