Alpine confirm Mike Elliott appointment as Chief Technical Officer

Alpine confirmed Mike Elliott has joined the team as Chief Technical Officer after leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2023 season.

Alpine has confirmed that former Mercedes Chief Technical Officer, Elliott, will now join the Enstone-based team as their CTO, with the squad confirming he will ‘lead and oversee’ technical and engineering functions of the team.

The new CTO brings a wealth of experience to Alpine, after working in Formula 1 for 23 years, spanning from 2000. He had worked with a number of F1 competitors, such as Renault, McLaren to Mercedes.

Alpine are banking on his experience, of which he helped Mercedes claim eight constructors and drivers world championships. In the statement, confirming his arrival to the team, Alpine said:

“Elliott’s arrival at Enstone strengthens the team’s technical capabilities as the team looks to build on the improved performances on track and close the gap to the top four teams.”

Elliott has first become an Aerodynamicist for McLaren in 2000, before moving over to the Enstone-based team – when they were named Renault, in 2008. He would later move to Mercedes, four years later.

During the Silver Arrows’ dominant years at the beginning of the turbo-hybrid era, Elliott had stepped up to become Technology Director at Mercedes from 2017 to 2021, before moving to Technical Director in 2021 to 2023.

He swapped roles with James Allison, at Mercedes, becoming their Chief Technical Officer in 2023, before departing the team that year.
