Bearman unfortunately crashed out of the Japanese Grand Prix, on lap 22, after he was forced to take evasive action against Alpine’s slow-moving Franco Colapinto.
The safety car was quickly deployed after the British driver slammed into the barrier at Spoon Curve following an excursion off the track. He was soon seen limping away from his wrecked VF-26, helped by the marshals off track.
Bearman’s impact with the barrier prompted a deployment of the medical car as it was reported as a 50G impact with the barrier.
Haas soon reported that Bearman was okay following an inspection at the on-site medical centre and suffered no fractures as a result of the impact.
However, reports from the likes of Motorsport.com and Sky Sports stated the 20-year-old was confirmed to have suffered a right-knee contusion. An injury that damages the muscle or skin tissue, according to health experts at Healthline.com.
On boards showed that the Haas driver was quickly approaching the rear of Colapinto and was forced to avoid the Argentine’s car, who seemed to be harvesting energy ahead of the back straight towards 130R.
The action sent Bearman sliding across the grass, into the brake boards, across the track before coming to an abrupt stop in the barrier. It was reported that Bearman was travelling at 308kph when he crashed.
Fortunately, Bearman will have five weeks to allow his injury to heal following the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in April.
The next F1 race won’t take place until May 1-3, when they head to the United States for the Miami Grand Prix.
