Esteban Ocon expected to stand down from Alpine
1st December 2024Esteban Ocon is expected to stand down from his seat with Alpine ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is set to be replaced by Jack Doohan.

Ocon is rumoured to have experienced his last race with the Alpine team in Qatar after crashing out of Sunday’s race, following contact with Williams’ Franco Colapinto and Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg.
If he is to be replaced, the crash marks the Frenchman’s final race of the season with Alpine before he heads to Haas for the following season. As such, it will allow Jack Doohan an earlier-than-expected debut in the Abu Dhabi finale next week.
This follows an intense fight for sixth place in the constructors championship, which is currently held by the French manufacturer.

Despite Pierre Gasly’s 10-point haul from Qatar, the team find themselves locked in a fight with Haas (seventh) and Visa Cash App RB (eighth), who are five and 13 points behind respectively.
Ocon joined the team back in 2020 when they were racing under the Renault brand, alongside Daniel Ricciardo. Following the rebrand to Alpine, the Frenchman has been accompanied by two-time world champion – now Aston Martin driver – Fernando Alonso and Gasly.
The Frenchman secured Alpine’s first and only victory back in 2021 at the Hungarian Grand Prix and gave the team two podium finishes in Monaco in 2023 and Sao Paulo in 2024, in the team’s stunning double-podium finish.
Alpine are yet to confirm that Ocon will be replaced by Doohan for Abu Dhabi.
