Leclerc took the lead of the second USA race of the season on the opening lap as Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris tussled for track position, at the opening corner.

From there, the Monegasque controlled the race from the start only losing the lead through the pit stop phase of the race before regaining it once again.

In the end, Leclerc led Sainz to give Ferrari their 87th career one-two finish and their first since Australia, earlier this season.

Verstappen completed the podium as he inherited the position from Norris who was slapped with a five-second time penalty, for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, following their tussle at the end of the race. Norris ultimately finished the race in fourth.

Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri completed the top five, in fifth, ahead of Mercedes’ sole car George Russell and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in sixth and seventh.

Haas’s Nico Hulkenberg finished the Austin race down in eighth ahead of Visa Cash App RB’s returning driver Liam Lawson, in ninth. Williams’ Franco Colapinto completed the top 10 taking home the sole point.

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
