Christian Horner: Timeline of events following inappropriate behaviour allegations
9th August 2024Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing CEO and Team Principal, has had a turbulent 2024 so far following allegations into inappropriate behaviour, here’s a timeline of events.
February 5 – Red Bull confirm investigation
At the beginning of February, Red Bull confirmed that there is an investigation which had been launched into Christian Horner on the allegation of inappropriate behaviour.
February 9 – Horner meets Barrister
On February 9, it was reported that Horner met with an external barrister as part of the investigation against him.
However, no outcome came after the meeting and Horner continued with his duties as the team’s car launch was coming up.
February 15 – Red Bull Racing Launch RB20
Horner was present when he, the drivers and – now departing – Adrien Newey unveiled their 2024 championship contender, the RB20.
It was also the first time Horner faced the media following the investigation in which he continued to deny any wrongdoing.
February 20 – Horner attends Pre-Season Test
Although his future hung in the balance, Horner continued to carry out his duties as Team Principal of the Red Bull F1 team and was present at the pre-season test.
February 28 – Horner cleared of any wrongdoing
On the eve of the opening round of the 2024 F1 championship, it was announced that Red Bull’s investigation was concluded into Horner and the complaint was dismissed.
February 29 – Messages leaked
Although the complaint into Horner was dismissed, the issue still raged on as it was reported a cache of messages, claiming to be from Horner, were released to members of the press at the opening round of the F1 season, Bahrain.
March 16 – Appeal goes in
Following the dismissal of her case, Horner’s accuser appeals the decision.
August 8 – Appeal dismissed
After a handful of months, it was reported that the appeal – which was completed by another independent barrister – was ‘not upheld.’
