Lia Block will represent Williams Racing in F1 Academy in 2024
15th November 2023F1 Academy driver Lia Block will represent Williams Racing in the upcoming 2024 world championship, racing with ART Grand Prix.
Williams Racing have announced they have taken Block under their wing as part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy. This means the team will support Block’s learning and development to maximise her potential in her F1 Academy debut, next year.
Block will be able to work closely with the F1 team at Grove to hone her skills and this will come with full access to the spectrum of Academy support.
On the announcement, Block was excited to join the academy, she said:
“I am so excited to be joining the Williams Driver Academy and competing in F1 Academy in 2024! This is something I never could have dreamed of. I can’t wait to embrace this new experience and learn as much as possible.”
Ahead of her F1 Academy season, Block is an accomplished driver through a number of disciplines in motorsport which include rally, Extreme E and rallycross.
The 17-year-old began karting and rallying at 11 years old but the F1 Academy will be her first outing in an open-wheel category. As such, the Academy driver has undertaken testing in open-wheel cars in preparation for the challenge.
Williams Team Principal, James Vowels said:
“We are excited to welcome Lia to Williams Racing as our F1 Academy driver for 2024. Lia has already achieved a tremendous amount in motorsport, has incredible natural talent, and has the champion mindset and dedication to make a success of her journey into open-wheel racing.
“We cannot wait to get started on this journey together. As a team, we are committed to Formula 1 and F1 Academy’s joint efforts to improve female representation in motorsport, and we look forward to working with Lia as a key part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy.”
Following the introduction to the all-female racing series, all 10 F1 teams will field a driver in the sport. As such, Williams has followed suit with McLaren in announcing their driver. The Woking-based team signed Bianca Bustamante in October as part of their driver programme.
The 2024 campaign will be the series’ second season which will span the continents of Europe, Asia and North America as a supporting category to F1. The sophomore season, consisting of seven rounds, will commence in Saudi Arabia before heading to Miami, Barcelona, Zandvoort, Singapore, and Qatar, and the season will conclude in Abu Dhabi.
That’s all for the article; Lia Block will represent Williams Racing in F1 Academy in 2024!

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
