Ferrari reveal one-off livery for Las Vegas Grand Prix

Scuderia Ferrari have revealed a stunning one-off livery ahead of the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix mixing red with white to pay homage to the ‘golden age’ of Formula 1.

Next weekend, Formula 1 heads to the Nevada desert for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. As such, Ferrari has opted to run a one-off special livery.

It’s been 41 years since the sport raced at the gambling capital of the world, in the car park of the famous Caesars Palace during the 1981 and 1982 seasons. These two races were won by Alan Jones and Michele Alboreto.

The new liveries are designed to celebrate Ferrari’s previous identity of the 70’s which has been regarded as the ‘golden age’ for F1 in America. Both the car and its drivers will be wearing a new one-off livery at Las Vegas.

The car will still remain with a relatively red primary coloured chassis but it will have splashes of white on the rear wing and on the engine cover, with white circular number boards.

For the drivers, they will wear fully red race suits which will consist of splashes of white on the collars, legs and forearms of the race suits, and white circular number boards on their back. In addition, the drivers helmets will also consist of a predominately red and white theme.

These changes have been worked closely with the Scuderia partners, who approved the changes, this included Puma who produced a completely new team kit specifically for this event.

These designs pay homage to Ferrari’s heritage in the 70’s as the team secured a number of wins at the hands of Niki Lauda, Clay Regazzoni, Carlos Reutemann, Gilles Villeneuve from 1975 to 1979.

Lauda also went on to secure two championship victories for the team, in 1975 and 1977. The Austrian could’ve made it three but he lost out to James Hunt, by a single point, in the 1976 season.

During this time, the team adorned a bit of white on their liveries which is why the team have opted to reprise the colour scheme. The team eased back on the white but it did return such as the 1993, 2016 seasons.

Once again the team started to edge out the white colour until the 2019 season where the team opted to run a red and black livery colour scheme.

That’s all for the article; Ferrari reveal one-off livery for Las Vegas Grand Prix!
