Alpha Tauri expected to change F1 team name ahead of 2024

Red Bull’s sister team, Alpha Tauri is expected to be rebranded ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 season according to reports.

Alpha Tauri has only been inside F1 for a short time since the Red Bull-associated team were rebranded from Toro Rosso in 2020. The rebranding was meant to promote the fashion brand of the same name.

In their first season under the new name, the Italy-based team went onto secure their first victory at Monza with Pierre Gasly – the same venue they won their first race in 2008 as Toro Rosso.

However, in recent times, Alpha Tauri looked to be under threat of being sold off. However, Red Bull motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko claimed the team was not for sale.

Despite this, he stated with an Austrian outlet, Kleine Zeitung, that a name change for the team is incoming. In the report, he said:

AlphaTauri will have two new tops from 2024 with Laurent Mekies and Peter Bayer. There will be new sponsors and also a new naming.

“The orientation is clear: based on Red Bull Racing, as far as the regulations allow.”

In addition to the new name, which Marko is keeping close to his chest at this current moment in time, the Red Bull sister team is about to go under its new change in 2024.

Following the departure of, Team Principal, Franz Tost at the end of the season, the team will see a two-pronged approach to their leadership structure.

Ferrari’s Race Director, Laurent Mekies will join the team as the new Team Principal in 2024 with Peter Bayer joining the team as their CEO

This is expected to produce a ‘dynamic’ leadership team with equal responsibilities between both Mekies and Bayer.

That’s all for the article: Alpha Tauri expected to change F1 team name ahead of 2024!

Hi, I'm Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion. I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I've loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
