EA F1 23 to release June 16 featuring Las Vegas Circuit and return of Braking Point
3rd May 2023EA’s latest edition of the Formula 1 sport, F1 23, will be released on June 16, 2023, and will include various new – and returning – features.
The annual video game of F1 is set to be released on June 16, during the real-life sports racing weekend in Montreal ahead of the 2023 Candian Grand Prix, on June 16-18.
Red Flags
F1 23 will include a variety of new features, more noticeably the reintroduction to Red Flags. F1 2014 was the last game to implement the red flags, since then they have never been brought back until now.
In previous versions of the game, where a red flag may have been necessary, a virtual safety car or a safety car was brought out while the multi-car pile-ups – or stationary cars – disappeared from the track.
More noticeably, while separate from the F1 games, F1 Manager 22 was the last game revolving around the sport to implement the session-stopping red flags. The reintroduction of the red flags will be a long-awaited feature for fans and will provide another strategic opportunity for the player.
New Circuits
Players will also be able to get a taste of racing around the Las Vegas Circuit before the sport’s iconic teams and drivers hit the real track later on in the year, in November.
Qatar’s Losail circuit will also join Las Vegas’ debut on the game as the sport heads back to the Middle Eastern country in October following its debut in 2021.
Managing Director of Commercial at Formula 1, Brandon Snow said:
“The exciting addition of the Las Vegas circuit on this year’s game will provide fans with their first taste of what’s to come ahead of the inaugural Grand Prix later this year,” said Brandon Snow, Managing Director of Commerical at Formula 1.
Braking Point
Braking Point is also set to return in this year’s edition for its sequel to the 2021 story mode.
The mode will see a return of Aiden Jackson who last partnered up with Casper Akkerman. However, the newest chapter will see the youngster in a new team, Konnersport Racing Team, alongside fan favourite, and protagonist, Devon Bulter.
Ahead of Braking Point’s return, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, Lee Mather.
“The return of Braking Point allows players to immerse themselves in a racing story, with a host of new and
returning characters and surprising twists.”
New features
With the reintroduction of red flags, F1 23 will also include more predictable behaviours from the game’s A.I. as well as new vehicle physics. It is stated there will be improvements in the traction when braking, accelerating and cornering which has reportedly followed feedback from fans.
Fans who want more than a 25% race yet don’t want to go half distance will be able to enjoy the new addition of 35% race distance in this year’s game.
Champions Edition
On the bounce from tying up his second consecutive world championship, EA SPORTS Ambassador and Red Bull Racing F1 driver, Max Verstappen will be the cover star for the game’s ‘Champions Edition.’
The standard edition of the game will feature, seven-time world champion and Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and McLaren’s Lando Norris on the front cover.
The Champions Edition of the F1 game will provide players with a bunch of extras to enjoy, such as:
- Early access – three days prior to its release to the general public
- The ‘F1 World Champion Bumper Pack’
- XP Boost
- New ‘My Team Racing’ icons: Nigel Mansell, Jamie Chadwick, Pastor Maldonado and Kamui Kobayashi
- Braking Point 2 My Tean Icons: Devon Butler, Aiden Jackson, Callie Mayer and Casper Akkerman
- 18,000 PitCoin
