Hulkenberg set to start Azerbaijan GP from pit lane
30th April 2023Haas F1 Team’s Nico Hulkenberg is set to start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from the pit lane after the team has completed some set-up changes.
Hulkenberg, who is enjoying his return to the pinnacle of single-seater motorsports, will join Alpine’s Esteban Ocon in the pit lane after Haas has completed some ‘required’ set-up changes.
While Hulkenberg finished the sprint race in 15th, as part of the reformatted Sprint Race weekend, the German qualified in 17th for the Grand Prix.
In a post on Twitter, the team stated:
“Due to a required setup change, Nico will start today’s #AzerbaijanGP from the pit lane.”
The required change that Haas has been required to make revolves around the VF-23’s suspension.
As the change has been completed under parc ferme conditions, it means Hulkenberg will line up behind the Alpine of Ocon as the lights go out.
The race will start at 3pm local time (12pm BST) with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc lining up on pole position ahead of the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez who start second and third respectively.
