Former Formula 2 and Formula E World Champion, Nyck de Vries will be part of the Formula 1 2023 grid, next season, as he has been snatched up by Alpha Tauri.

De Vries has secured his first permanent seat in Formula 1 with Red Bull’s sister team, Alpha Tauri, after their French driver, Pierre Gasly has announced his move to Alpine for the 2023 season.

In 2022, De Vries has gotten a taste of F1 action – in the current spec of machinery, with FP1 outings with the likes of Aston Marin, Mercedes and Williams.

However, he got his real taste of competitive action when Williams’ Alexander Albon was ruled out of the 2022 Italian Grand Prix when the London-born driver was unwell. Fortunately, the Dutchman was at the Grand Prix weekend with an FP1 outing at Aston Martin when he was catapulted into the race seat.

In his maiden outing, the Dutch driver put in a superb performance to secure a ninth-placed finish while the team’s seasoned driver, Nicholas Latifi, struggled to break into the points with a P15 finish.

For some fans, this move wouldn’t have been a surprise as it was heavily rumoured.

The rumours circulated the paddock stating Gasly was set for a move to Alpine with De Vries poised to be the man to replace Alpha Tauri’s outgoing race winner. Now we know those rumours were true.

That’s it for the article; Nyck de Vries set to join Alpha Tauri for 2023! How do you think Nyck de Vries will perform on the grid next season? Let us know in the comments!
