Red Bull Racing sack Juri Vips after racist comment

F2 Hitech Grand Prix driver Juri Vips has been sacked from his affiliation from Red Bull Racing after the young Estonian used racial language on an online stream.

Red Bull Racing has confirmed today that they have terminated their contract with one of their academy drivers, Vips, after the Estonian used racist language while gaming online.

In a statement, which was released on Twitter, the Milton Keynes outfit said:

“Following its investigation into an online incident involving Juri Vips, Oracle Red Bull Racing has terminated Juri’s contract as its test & reserve driver.

“The Team do not condone any form of racism.”

This comes after Red Bull suspended Vips, last week, when they became aware of the incident.

Following the suspension, the Hitech driver released a post on Instagram where he apologised for his actions, he said:

“I wish to unreservedly apologise for the offensive language used during a live gaming stream earlier today. This language is entirely unacceptable and does not portray the values and principles I hold.

“I deeply regret my actions and this is not the example I wish to set. I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”

The Estonian is currently in his seventh season in F2, where he has had support from Red Bull. He even participated in free practice one, in Spain earlier this year, replacing Sergio Perez for the session.

Despite not being let go from Hitech, without backing from the Milton Keynes outfit, his future as a F2 driver remains unclear.

That’s it for the article: Red Bull Racing sack Juri Vips after racist comment! What do you think, does the Estonian still have a chance to progress into F1 without significant backing? Let us know in the comments!
