Ahead of the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, Haas has confirmed a ‘groundbreaking season-long’ collaboration with TOHO, an iconic Japanese entertainment studio and home of Godzilla.

It marks the team’s first-ever collaboration with an entertainment IP in Haas’ 10-year F1 history.

Additionally, it marks the second Japanese-based partnership with the team after they took on Toyota Gazoo Racing as a title sponsor before the season start, moving away from MoneyGram.

The collaboration is set to make its debut this weekend at the Japanese GP, at the Suzuka circuit, after the team unveiled a Godzilla special livery.

Haas will retain their easily-recognisable colour palette: white, black and red, whilst incorporating Godzilla on the engine cover, underneath the Gazoo Racing logo.

On the announcement, Haas Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu said:

“This is truly an extraordinary opportunity to showcase our brand to new audiences, and it’s a first for both TGR Haas F1 Team and  TOHO.

“It’s an honour to bring a global icon such as Godzilla to this sport and activate across an important year for the franchise. We want our fanbases to combine and celebrate with us, as there will be lots  to engage with this season.”

However, the Japanese Grand prix will not be the only time the collaboration will be showcased. Haas has confirmed the partnership will also be showcased at the United States Grand prix, later on in the year.

The American race, on October 23 – 25, will also be near the US release date of ‘Godzilla Minus Zero,’ which will be released in cinemas on November 6.

Haas isn’t the only team bringing a special livery to the upcoming Japanese GP. Racing Bulls recently unveiled a striking livery that took inspiration from Red Bull’s Spring Edition can, featuring Japanese shodo calligraphy and cherry red accents.
