Fans still prefer Martin Brundle’s Grid Walk over the new Fan Walk

From our poll, on Twitter, Formula 1 fans still prefer Martin Brundle’s Grid Walk over his recent Fan Walk which he conducted ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.

After recent downpours which plagued running at the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend, ahead of the annual summer break, former F1 driver-now-commentator Brundle conducted a different type of grid walk.

Instead of being out on track amongst the F1 machinery, drivers and F1 Team Personnel, Brundle took his time to interview the fans alongside the pit straight. The move was to showcase, and congratulate, the fans who have braved the poor weather conditions across the race weekend.

Across Friday and Saturday, the Belgian Grand Prix was subject to some horrific weather as sessions in the F1 schedule were delayed as a result of heavy downpours. Despite this, the fans withheld the conditions and remained in the grandstands to watch the on-track action.

As such we conducted a poll on Twitter to see which pre-event show fans liked more, Martin’s iconic grid walk or his new fan walk.

From a small sample of 221 votes, it looks as though fans still prefer Brundle’s – sometimes chaotic – Grid Walk as it won the votes with 54.3% over the 45.7% who preferred the fan walk.

On social media, there was a clear divide among the fanbase on the new concept. Many fans preferred the new concept as it showcased the fans who enjoy the sport and help make it possible.

However, on the other side of the same coin, some fans still preferred the original pre-event show.

After Red Bull’s Max Verstappen secured victory in Belgium, the sport heads into its annual summer break and will not return until the end of August for the Dutch Grand Prix.

The race weekend in the Netherlands will ignite the second half of the season on August 25 to August 27, 2023 – a race that has only had one winner, Verstappen, since it returned to the calendar in 2021.
