The first looks of the car which will be featured in the upcoming Formula 1-inspired Apple Original Film, Apex, has been revealed today.
The car which is set to be used for the upcoming F1 movie, Apex, has finally hit the track in a ‘public’ display of the APXGP team, the fictional 11th team of which the movie will be set around.
While the synopsis of the film remains relatively unknown, two characters have been revealed that will be played by Brad Pitt and Damson Idris who currently feature on the garages at Silverstone.
In addition to their very own garage, between the Mercedes and Ferrari garages, the fictional team will also have their very own pit wall in attendance during the British Grand Prix.
Pitt is set to play a retired racer, Sonny Hayes, who is pulled back into the sport to partner up alongside a rookie, Joshua Pearce (Idris).
The car – which is a strongly modified Formula 2 car with F1 similarities – features a black-and-gold colour scheme with a primarily black base and golden details on the nose, the fin, around the side pods and at the rear of the car.
It was designed with help from Mercedes and Carlin and the APXGP car will be driven by the actors themselves, using similar technology used in Top Gun: Maverick to help deliver an authentic feel to the film.
Footage expected to be used in the movie will be used from a blend of on-track sessions, filmed privately between live F1 sessions, and actual F1 footage.
The project is set to be named ‘Apex’ which is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer who both worked on Top Gun: Maverick.

Hi, I’m Kamron. I created ApexMotorsports.co.uk in the dying embers of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. It allowed me freedom to write whatever I wanted to write about which was all things motorsports, my passion.
I have put a lot of effort in over the years to keep this website in its best shape and I’ve loved seeing the brand grow consistently, month-on-month, year-on-year. My ambition is to keep watching this brand grow into a primary outlet of news for all things motorsports whilst fueling my desire to pursue a career in sports journalism, specialising in motorsports.
