Formula 1 renews Austrian GP contract until 2027
15th March 2023Formula 1, on Wednesday, announced the Austrian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until 2027 following a four-year extension with the race promoter.
After some time on the F1 schedule back which saw the venue host the Austrian GP back in 1997, the Red Bull Ring took a hiatus in 2003 and returned to the calendar in 2014. Following their original 10-year deal, F1 and the Austrian GP promoter have extended their partnership for another four years.
This year’s race will mark the final race of the current agreement of the partnership before they embark on the next chapter of their collaboration.
Formula 1 CEO and President, Stefano Domenicali said:
“The Austrian Grand Prix brings together the perfect mix of a challenging track, high-speed racing, and a beautiful venue for our fans, so I am delighted that we will be coming back to the Red Bull Ring until at least 2027 under this new agreement.
“As we celebrate the 10th year since our return to Spielberg, I would like to thank everyone involved in this renewal, especially the promoter and Red Bull and I want to pay tribute to Dietrich Mateschitz for the love, passion, and vision he brought to Formula 1 that has ensured the continued success of the event and the huge enthusiasm for our sport in Austria and around the world.”
The FORMULA 1 GROSSER PREIS VON ÖSTERREICH will take place on June 30 to July 2, 2023 and will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Austrian Grand Prix’s return. It is expected to see a sold-out crowd of 303,000 supporters at this years grand prix.
This year’s race will also stand as the first race at the Red Bull Ring after the death of Red Bull’s co-founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, who died on October 22, 2022.

“In signing this contract extension, Formula 1 has made a strong commitment to Austria, Styria and the Murtal region.
“As we enter Page 2 of 2 the tenth year of our partnership with Formula 1, we want to celebrate this milestone with all the great fans of the sport and to thank them for their loyalty and the tremendous atmosphere they help to generate.
“Everyone is invited to experience another great race weekend at Spielberg in 2023.”
