Dams confirm Arthur Leclerc to join 2023 F2 grid
21st November 2022Dams have revealed Arthur Leclerc, brother of Ferrari Formula 1 driver: Charles Leclerc, will join the team ahead of the 2023 Formula 2 Championship.
The young Monegasque will join the F2 grid, next season, after a good couple of seasons under his belt in the Formula 3 category.
Leclerc secured wins at both Le Castellet (France) and Zandvoort (Netherlands) in his first outing in F3, in 2021, before he claimed another win at Silverstone (Great Britain) – this season.
The Prema driver also went on to secure a podium finish in Bahrain, in the 2022 championship’s opening Feature Race.
The Monegasque finished the Formula 3 season in sixth, in the drivers’ standings, with 114 points to his name. The Monegasque slotted in between both the Trident driver of Roman Stanek (P5) and, fellow Prema teammate, Jak Crawford (P7).
In the post, Dams said:
“DAMS is very pleased to announce the entry of Arthur Leclerc for the 2023 season of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.”
Leclerc made his debut, in the formula categories, back in 2018 when he secured eighth place in the French F4 Championship. Since then, the young Ferrari academy driver has steadily made this way through the junior categories over the last five years.
In a statement, released by the team, Dams Team Owner, Charles Pic said:
“It’s great to have Arthur join Dams for 2023. We’ve seen his talent and skill throughout his career so far, and he’s shown in the last two years in F3 that he’s capable of challenging for victories.
“We’re excited to have him in the car for the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, preparing for next season.
“The team is aiming for a strong campaign in 2023, and we’ve no doubt that the addition of Arthur will help us towards our goals.”
