Porsche Supercup returns this week in Imola
18th April 2022The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will finally returns this week as a supporting race to Formula 1’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, in Imola.
The Italian city, Imola, is set for an intense amount of on-track action this weekend as Formula 2, Formula 3 and the Mobil 1 Supercup will support the Formula 1’s first sprint weekend of the season.
The Porsche one-make series will start it’s 30th season this weekend, which will start in Italy and, ultimately, end in the same country after eight rounds.
GP Elite’s Larry ten Voorde will have his second opportunity to defend his Mobil 1 Supercup title after the Dutch driver secured the championship in 2020 and 2021. While SSR Huber Racing’s will showcase his talent as he was selected to become the Porsche Junior of 2022.
Heinrich put in a superb rookie season to claim fourth place at the end of the 2021 season, which included a race win in Netherland’s Zandvoort and two podium finishes: Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Monza (Italy) respectively. As a result, the young German became the rookie champion of the season, out of; Lodovico Laurini (Dinamic Motorsport), Harry King (Team Parker Racing) and Dorian Boccolacci (Martinet by Alméras).

- Monte-Carlo, Monaco (May 26 to May 29)
- Silverstone, Great Britain (July 1 to July 3)
- Spielberg, Austria (July 8 to July 10)
- Le Castellet, France (July 22 to July 24)
- Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (August 26 to August 28)
- Zandvoort, Netherlands (September 2 to September 4)
- Monza, Italy (September 9 to September 11)
As Formula 1 ventures around in its European leg of its 2022 championship, it will be the Supercup’s 30th season supporting the pinnacle of motorsports since its establishment in 1993.
