Ice Cube to put on a show at NASCAR Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum

NASCAR will get its season underway with the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum and American rapper, Ice Cube, set to perform at the event.

The rapper known for songs such as ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and movie roles in 21 Jump Street and Boyz N The Hood, Ice Cube will perform alongside a star-packed line-up of racing and performing talents in NASCAR’s season-opening exhibition.

In a press release, Ice Cube said:

“I’ve long been a fan of NASCAR from afar, and I’ve become an even bigger fan after seeing the action in person,

“And now to perform for all of the fans at the Coliseum and for the millions watching at home, I’m excited to be part of an incredible day for NASCAR and LA.”

Ben Kennedy, NASCAR senior vice president for strategy and innovation, said:

“Ice Cube is more than a rapper, actor and entertainer, he’s an icon who has risen to the top in all of his endeavors.

“We’re honoured to have him perform at this first-of-its-kind event in the heart of Los Angeles.”

While the California-native will perform during the break, Pitbull is also set to perform a 45-minute concert – presented by Coca-Cola – prior to the 150-lap main event.

The opening exhibition will be held within the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, with a temporary quarter-mile track being made for the event.

LA’s memorial coliseum was a living memorial for all those who served within the United States military branches during World War One, and has become ‘a civic treasure’ for the local residents across generations.

The historic stadium has been broken into the nations top 40 stadiums to watch college football by Sporting News, and it was also ranked third in regards to stadium experience by StadiumJourney.com.
